Knife Repair and Restoration Services

Restore What Matters

Knife repair and restoration allow you to extend the life of your blades instead of replacing them.

At Serenity Knives, we offer expert repair and refurbishing services in Houston – handling everything from minor edge damage to full restorations. With the right approach, many knives can be brought back to strong, reliable working condition.

Whether it’s a daily tool or a piece with history behind it, we focus on restoring performance while respecting the character of the blade.

What to Expect

Our goal is to restore function and improve appearance of your knife while respecting the original character of the blade. When you bring or mail in a knife to be repaired or refurbished, our turnaround time will depend on the level of work required and the shop’s current volume. We will provide an estimate and expected timeline after your knife is accepted.

However, not all knives can be fully refurbished due to how they are constructed.

Knives that are difficult (or impossible) full restore include: traditional slip joint pocket knives, non-locking pocket knives, and older lockback knives that are pinned together without screws. In many of these cases, sharpening is still possible, which can significantly improve performance, even if full restoration isn’t an option.

If you’re unsure, bring it in or send photos. We’re happy to take a look.

The Price of Knife Repair or Refurbishing

The price of each repair or refurbishing project can vary significantly, depending on the condition of the piece and what’s needed to restore it.

  • A simple buff and sharpen is typically $30-$40, and we can get it back to you same day.
  • Rehandling a knife starts at $120 and can take a couple weeks.
  • Full restorations – buffing, fixing edge and tip damage, and making or sourcing new parts for a knife – can cost $200-$400 or more and can take months.

 FAQ's

Can all knives be repaired?

Not all knives can be fully restored, but many can be significantly improved in performance and condition. Knives that are no longer structurally sound, broken blades, peenned together pocket knives, and some other knives can’t be fixed.

Will my knife look new again?

Our goal is to restore function and improve appearance while respecting the original character of the blade. Depending on the extent of repairs, most knives won't look brand new again, but they will definitely look better once we are done.

How long does a repair take?

It depends on the level of work required and the current shop volume. Once your project is accepted, you will be given an estimated completion time.

What’s the difference between knife repair and knife refurbishment?

Repairs focus on fixing specific damage (bent edges, broken tips, chips) so it works as intended again. Knife refurbishment is more complex – it’s a process that includes restoring, cleaning, polishing, sharpening, and often replacing (or remaking) elements of the knife.
